Virgil Abloh’s first solo exhibition “Figures of Speech” has opened at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago (MCA). The showcase, designed by AMO director Samir Batal, takes an in-depth look at the defining moments of Abloh’s career, from his early creative collaborations with Kanye West to his high-profile command of Nike, Ikea, and Louis Vuitton products.
In large part, “Figures of Speech” is an art exhibition rooted in advertising and “the projected image. Anytime an idea hits a particular surface; a photo print, a screen, a billboard or canvas, it seems like fact. This exhibition demonstrates myself wrestling with this concept within the freedom of mediums while finding personal solutions.” – Virgil Abloh
The show will be open to the public until September 22, 2019.
