IBM Patents Transformable Smartwatch

As the wave of foldable smart devices surge through the market, IBM makes a move to get ahead of the trend and take it one step further with a smartwatch that not only folds but transforms into a tablet.

The renowned tech innovation company, submitted the two-in-one design in effort to meet the growing demand for more flexible and versatile devices as user needs continue to shift and diversify.

As noted by the patent, the device features a bezel-less screen that houses a set of auxiliary display panels. The panels, each measuring at 2 x 3 inches, can expand and conjoin to create multiple display configurations.

Although the patent was approved, the is no guarantee that the device will see the light of day anytime soon. The tech needed to produce the design is still far out. IBM is more than likely just staying a step ahead of the industry and padding their patent record.
